The Saturday Acting Academy

This is an exceptional weekend course for those people wishing to learn or develop existing acting skills for the medium of film but who cannot commit to a full-time schedule.

The course is lead by actor Sam Phillips, who has taught Screen Acting at the Actors Studio (Pinewood), and acclaimed BBC Director Max McGill. You will learn core acting skills as well as all the technical skills necessary for you to perform confidently in front of a camera. You will act in filmed exercises and also shoot exercises yourselves so that you know what it is like to be on the other side of the camera.

The Acting for TV and Film Intermediate Weekend is aimed at two groups - people who have completed our Beginners Course or for professional actors who want to develop their skillset.

The course helps you

  1. To understand the actors role within the wider TV and Film Industry.
  2. To develop your understanding of all of the technical aspects of acting on screen.
  3. To do a detailed scene study looking at your strengths and weaknesses on screen.
  4. To shoot a scene that could be included in your Showreel.
  5. To look at how you can market yourself in the industry.

The Acting for TV and Film Advanced Weekend is aimed at anyone who wants to be involved in a short film written by an exciting screenwriter and Director. This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a short film that will be developed in a weekend workshop and then shot the following weekend.

The weekend allows you

  1. To be involved in developing a character through improvisation and exercises on building a character.
  2. To put into practice the skills that you have accrued on the Intermediate course.
  3. To work with an exceptional Screenwriter and Director making an exciting short film.
  4. To experience shooting a professional short film and build your list of credits.

Please note that this course will be spread over two full weekends. This course is only for people who have finished the Intermediate Course.
